Namibia is not like anywhere else in Africa. It is a country defined by absence as much as presence — vast, silent, geometrically beautiful. It is a photographer’s dream and just plain dreamy in its landscapes, colours, stories and people. Namibia is ancient and extreme: dunes that have been accumulating sand for five million years, a coastline where desert meets ocean in conditions hostile to almost everything, mountain wilderness so remote that the people who live there have maintained an almost unchanged way of life for centuries. This is one of the sparsely populated countries on earth - and it feels like that.
Space is the point. Namibia is a safari as much about landscape and solitude as wildlife, in a country where the human cultures are as extraordinary as the natural ones.
