The Hwange region sprawls across Zimbabwe’s western edge, covering nearly 15,000 square kilometres of rugged terrain and dry woodland. This striking expanse sits atop ancient sandstone and granite, where seasonal pans and rocky outcrops punctuate broad mopane forests. Rainfall here is unpredictable, suddenly transforming the landscape from dusty ochre in the dry months to green bursts of life when the rains arrive.
