Daily Itinerary
Days 1–4: Mabula Private Game Reserve – Cheetahs, Conservation & Hot Air Balloons
Begin your safari just a few hours from Johannesburg in Mabula, a Big Five reserve with a relaxed, authentic feel. Track cheetahs on foot, take part in rhino conservation efforts, or enjoy a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the bushveld. Lodges here are welcoming and excellent value, making Mabula a perfect introduction to South Africa’s wildlife.
Days 4–7: Welgevonden Game Reserve – Malaria-Free, Exclusive & Underrated
Continue north to Welgevonden, a malaria-free reserve with dramatic escarpments and a vehicle-only policy that ensures exclusivity. Stay in a luxury lodge perched on a hillside with sweeping views, and enjoy expert guiding through Big Five territory. Alongside lions and elephants, look out for rare species like brown hyena, aardwolf, and even pangolin.
Days 7–10: Greater Kruger – Big Cats & Luxury in the Bush
Conclude your journey in the Greater Kruger, staying in a private reserve such as Sabi Sands, Timbavati, or Thornybush. Here, animals roam freely between the park and private reserves, offering some of the best game viewing in Africa. Luxury lodges provide outstanding service and style, with opportunities for morning and evening drives, bush breakfasts, and starlit sleepouts. Leopard sightings are a highlight in this region.
