Your Private Guide

Steve Faulconbridge

Private Safari Guide

With over 15 years of experience in the field and a master’s degree in nature conservation, Steve brings a thoughtful, quietly profound approach to guiding. A certified Level 2 Lead Trails Guide, he specialises in botany, animal behaviour, birding and tracking, interpreting the bush with the precision of a scientist and the intuition of someone deeply in tune with the land.

Since joining WildEarth in 2018, Steve has become known for his gentle way of guiding, where curiosity is welcomed and every question is a door to deeper understanding. His favourite part of being with WildEarth is the freedom to explore any subject, from the structure of a termite mound to the quiet clarity found in stillness.

What sets Steve apart is not just his ecological insight, but his gift for creating space, space for reflection, connection, and often a sense of calm awe. Guests often speak of ‘Oh my word’ moments and quiet pauses spent in nature that feel a little like meditation.

His favourite animal? The honey badger, fierce, fearless, and full of character. Much like Steve himself, there’s more to them than first meets the eye. Away from the vehicle or the trails, you’ll find him playing drums, dancing, or simply soaking in the rhythm of the wild.

Ben Coley

Private Safari Guide

For over 20 years, I have worked as a FGASA guide, trainer, and assessor, sharing my passion for the African wilderness. During this journey, I noticed a missing piece in the safari experience: the night sky. Astronomy has always been an essential part of human storytelling, and I believed it should hold the same importance on safari. From this vision, Celestial Events SA was created.

Based in Hoedspruit, we bring the wonders of the universe closer to guests through Night Sky Safaris at lodges, guesthouses, and schools across the Greater Kruger region. Using a laser pointer, binoculars, and our professional 10″ Meade telescope, we reveal the brilliance of the southern skies — from planets and constellations to galaxies far beyond.

Beyond guest experiences, we also provide comprehensive astronomy training tailored for the tourism industry. I am proud to be the author of the Specialist Astronomy Qualification now offered by FGASA, ensuring that guides across Africa can enrich safaris with authentic stargazing knowledge.

Cedric Dold

Private Safari Guide

With 19 years of guiding experience and a natural gift for tracking, Cedric brings a steady presence and sharp eye to the bush. Trained through EcoTraining and in-lodge mentoring, he specialises in big cats and the art of reading the land until its stories come to life.

Since joining WildEarth in 2022, Cedric has shared his passion with a global audience, inspiring younger generations to care for the wild. Guests are drawn to his calm nature and the joy he shows when reconnecting with familiar leopards, his excitement both genuine and contagious.

For Cedric, guiding is about more than sightings. He invites guests to slow down, be present, and feel the rhythm of the wilderness.

Chitwa Chitwa Game Lodge

Originally a private family retreat, Chitwa Chitwa earned its name as an affectionate ode to the aging giraffe bull who shared the lakeside home as an extended member of the Brink family. According to the owner, Charl Brink, the majestic arrival of this regal relative was always signaled by the creaking of his old joints – and still today, his watchful essence is felt presiding over the lodge. The private game lodge is magnificent and graceful in appearance, yet humble enough to evaporate into the surrounding beauty of the unspoiled bush of the Sabi Sand.
