Where You’ll Stay

Governors' Camp

Masai Mara · Kenya

Photo 1

One of the Mara's oldest and most beloved camps, Governors' Camp has stood on the banks of the Mara River since 1972, a testament to getting things right from the very beginning.

Pitched in a prime wildlife corridor within Kenya's legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, the camp offers exceptional game viewing throughout the year. Resident plains game roam the surrounding bush in every season, while the great wildebeest migration passes through in dramatic fashion, making this one of Africa's most rewarding wildlife destinations no matter when you visit.

A stay at Governors' allows you the chance to meet the Marsh Pride and their current overlords - the Topi Boys. These much loved WildEarth characters' real-life stories are as compelling as they authentic. A visit to Governors' Camp allows you to immerse in this wild drama yourself.

Every tent at Governors' Camp is a canvas retreat with genuine character. Most look out directly over the Mara River, where hippos wallow and crocodiles bask within easy view of your private verandah. Five spacious family tents face the open plains, a sweep of golden grassland that feels utterly timeless. All accommodations feature en-suite bathrooms and that essential safari luxury: space to breathe and a view worth lingering over.

Sundowners are best enjoyed from the bar deck above the river, and meals in the dining tent come with sweeping views across the plains that are hard to beat anywhere in East Africa.

Governors' Camp now runs entirely on solar power, a meaningful commitment to the wild places that make it all possible.
