Location

India - Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore

This ten-day journey moves from the bustling intensity of Delhi to the Mughal grandeur of Agra, before shifting into mystical landscapes of Ranthambore National Park in search of the mighty Bengal tiger.

You arrive in India’s capital with VIP assistance and settle into your hotel before exploring the city in depth—ceremonial, wide-avenue vistas of Lutyens’ Delhi, the historic weight of Humayun’s Tomb, and the dense, spice-laden lanes of Old Delhi experienced by rickshaw and on foot. The day closes with high tea in a restored haveli.

From here, you travel to Agra, where the surreal Taj Mahal takes centre stage at both sunrise and sunset, revealing its changing light and detail. You also visit Agra Fort and quieter Mughal sites that offer a more measured, reflective perspective on the empire at its height.

You then head to Ranthambhore for three full days of safari. Early mornings and late afternoons are spent tracking tigers and other wildlife by private jeep through rugged, fortress-studded terrain, dry teak forests, and lake-dotted wilderness. Between drives, you have time to rest and absorb the setting.

You return to Delhi for a final night before departure, completing a journey that balances culture, history, and wildlife with clarity and purpose.

Private Safari Guide

With over two decades of guiding experience and academic credentials in both Wildlife Science and Human Development, James offers a distinctive blend of insight, humour and depth. He holds a BSc in Wildlife Science, an MPhil in Human Development, and the highest FGASA guiding qualifications, grounding his safaris in both expertise and understanding.

Since joining WildEarth in 2015, James has become a familiar presence to thousands of nature lovers across the globe. He thrives on sparking curiosity and joy, bringing Africa’s landscapes and wildlife to life through sharp storytelling, thoughtful commentary and the occasional well-timed laugh. James is now the WildEarth CEO.

One of his most treasured moments in the field was encountering Xongile the leopard cub on foot, relaxed and watchful in a tree above. It was a quiet, connective moment in the heart of the wild.

Guests often remember James for his wit, warmth and engaging explanations of evolutionary biology. They also tend to mention that he’s a little shorter in person than expected. His favourite animals are leopards and wild dogs, both of which have given him some of his most meaningful experiences on foot.

A fun fact? He once was a porridge salesman.
