Lauren Arthur holds a BSc in Zoology and an MSc in Marine Biology, a foundation that has shaped her
career as a guide, presenter, and wildlife educator. With a lifelong passion for animal behaviour and
the natural world, Lauren has spent over a decade translating the rhythms of the wild into meaningful,
accessible stories.
She first rose to recognition during her years with WildEarth, where she became a familiar and trusted
voice to audiences around the world. From the Sabi Sand to the Maasai Mara, she guided viewers
through live safaris, combining her scientific training with a deep sensitivity to the bush. Her time on
screen made her a natural teacher — calm, observant, and quietly articulate — always drawing
attention to what others might miss.
In recent years, Lauren followed a long-held dream and co-founded TooWild with her partner David in
the Timbavati. Together, they opened Amaya, a private tented safari camp where storytelling,
conservation, and guided experience are at the heart of every stay.
This October, Lauren will privately guide a small group at Amaya. For those joining her, it will be a
chance to experience the bush with someone who not only knows the land intimately, but who has
dedicated her life to sharing it with care, purpose, and quiet wisdom.
The Lodge
Amaya Safari Camp
Amaya is a quiet retreat in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger
National Park. This region is known for its rich biodiversity, open landscapes, and
free-roaming wildlife. There are no fences between the reserves, allowing animals to move
as they always have, following ancient paths across the land.
With space for only eight guests, Amaya offers a private and thoughtful safari experience.
Here, luxury is not about excess. It is about space, stillness, and a deep connection to the
natural world.
Each day is shaped by nature’s pace. Early mornings, slow afternoons, time spent
watching, listening, learning. There is no rush, no noise. Just the steady presence of the
bush and the quiet sense that you are part of something greater — a landscape with its
own stories, still unfolding.
Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Sunday, 5 October 2025
Amaya Lodge • The Timbavati Nature Reserve
You will be met in Johannesburg at O.R Tambo International Airport and take a scheduled flight to Hoedspruit, where a representative from Sable Tours will welcome you and transfer you to Amaya Safari Lodge. After settling in, enjoy a refreshing high tea
before heading out on your first sunset game drive. The evening concludes with a boma dinner under the stars, where you can unwind by the fire and soak in the sounds of the African night.
Day 2 – 5: Monday, 6 October 2025 – Wednesday, 8 October 2025
Amaya Lodge • The Timbavati Nature Reserve
Each day begins with an early morning game drive, an opportunity to witness Africa’s incredible wildlife as the sun rises. After returning to the lodge, enjoy a leisurely breakfast with views of the surrounding bush. The late morning and early afternoon can
be spent at the pool. Lunch is served with sweeping views of the landscape, followed by relaxation time before the afternoon game drive. As the sun sets, enjoy sundowners in the bush before returning for an exquisite dinner, stargazing, and storytelling by the fire.
Day 6: Thursday, 9 October 2025
Amaya Lodge • The Timbavati Nature Reserve
Wake up to a final morning game drive, time permitting, followed by breakfast at the lodge. You will then be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport for your scheduled flight back to Johannesburg. Upon arrival, a representative will assist with collecting your luggage
and checking in for your onward flight home.
